Sterling Result

Alex Burrett

Project Overview:

Sterling would be the world reserve currency today if Britain had not decimalized in 1971. Before decimalisation, British people resisted debt. New money removed the cultural connection to this longstanding attitude.

Had Britain not become addicted to debt and ambivalent to the meaning of money, Neoliberalism would have been rejected. Britain would be socialist in nature and distant from American market-based socioeconomics.

In response to the American financial crisis of 2008, the Federal Reserve would have printed money. In isolation. Resultant hyperinflation would have rendered the dollar worthless by 2014. Sterling would be the most suitable replacement world reserve currency at this time.
